1949.0. "BMS T1.2.3 installation problems" by MICROW::LANG () Mon Dec 16 1991 12:46

We just installed BMS T1.2.3, and previously had T1.2 installed.
    	We have the following problems:

    	1. There is no mcc_dap exe, and its not in the release notes any
more, but its in the user doc, where is it?

    	2. The following message occured during the installation, and when
I startup an AM. What needs to be changed?

MCC> Failure in kernel event receipt. Thread terminating
%MCC-E-EVT_POOL_SIZESKEW, requested event pool size incompatible with
    existin

Unlink failure in syslock_delete: Not owner

    	3. When mcc_msl is issued, the error messages don't print out.
This is easily remedied by setting up the env var MSG_LOCATION,
but this was not necessary prior to this installation.

    			Thanks,

I assume that you are running on ULTRIX. What do you mean by "T1.2 installed"?

/usr/mcc/mmtoolkit/bin/mcc_dap, with a link in /usr/bin
If it is missing, then there is a bug in the installation.

It appears that you still had earlier code running when you tried
to do this installation. Please terminate all DECmcc related
processes, and re-install. Also, if by "T1.2" you mean a pre-field test
development baselevel, you should probably reboot your system before
the re-install.

The environmental variable MSG_LOCATION is required for all DECmcc
messages. It is defined in the login script, /usr/mcc/mcc_system/mcc_login.*
All users of DECmcc (including toolkit users) must execute either the
.sh or .csh version of this file when they log in. This has been
true since very early development baselevels.

                        Sorry, I made a mistake, I meant the mcc_ptb and I
found that you removed it -- it was in the release
notes, but when I searched for ptb it wasn't there, so
didn't see it initially. That improvement is great
    			though!

We had what I believe was the official internal field
test kit, and I think the prompt actually had T.1.2
    			(not positive)

                            thanks,
