--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am looking at the msl for DNA phase V and more precisely at the X25 access
module entity.

The final objective is to map Node5 and related management information
(events...) into NMF objects for the purpose of the interoperability of DECmcc
with Concert, the Management system of British telecom.

I have a basic question : where can I find documentation to help me translate
data such as the various state of a port (Open, Running, synchronising,
Unsynchronized, No communication, calling....) ino a more detailed description,
allowing me to understand what these different states exactly mean.

More generally I am very interested in a pointer to any documentation which
will feel the gap between the translation of reality for management purpose
(datatypes...) and the reality itself (in the context of DNA phase 5 and
mainly for x25 services).

thank's for your help, JJ

In addition where can I find a list of Phase 5 events supported by
DECmcc V1.2 ? Will it be aligned with registered NCL MSL ? Which version ?

The last part of this is the difficult piece! However, I don't think it
should matter particularly to you. If you always work from the latest MSL
then it won't matter if the events you need aren't actually implemented by
the version of MCC you are running on as those events just won't appear.

Graham is quite correct. However, I can be more precise about the
alignment of the MCC data dictionary for DNA5 child entities with
the NCL MSLs in the DSSR registry. For the beginning of DECmcc V1.2
EFT, all the NCL MSLs registered prior to Sept. 1, 1991 will be
in the MCC V1.2 Data Dictionary. If something was registered after
that date, it will not be reflected in the field test data dictionary.

At some time during the field test, the DECmcc data dictionary will
be updated as part of a EFT update. At that time, a new cut off date
will be established. I can't tell you when, because I don't know yet
when the EFT update will occur.

In general, events for DNA5 entities have been defined for quite some
time, so there will be only very minor differences between the NCL
set of events and the MCC set of events. In general, there should
be no differences. If there are, they will be picked up in subsequent
    updates.

I have been doing an audit of the NCL MSLs relative to DECmcc V1.2
and am quite sure that the 1 Sept. date is good. If you find somewhere
that I missed something, please bring it to my attention and please
QAR it so we can make sure it gets into an update.

Graham, Wally thank you very much for your replies.

Graham, I definitely need to know which events are supported by MCC as we define
with BT what will be available at the interoperable interface betweem DCEmcc and
Concert. To do so I obviously need to know if the events I rely on are there or
not.

September 1st 1991 is an excellent reference point for me.

Wally can you give me a pointer on the current msl for Phase 5 AM ?

Thank's again for your help, JJ
