1824.0. "Question: on MCC V1.2 and DECthreads" by BYBLOS::TAMER () Fri Nov 15 1991 15:22

What Base level of DECthreads (CMA) will MCC T1.2 (and V1.2) on VMS ship with ?

If it is different than the Base Level (BL7) that is bundled with VMS 5.5, then
what is the reason ?

Thanks,
Phil

We are currently up to something called CMA5d, with patches. This is
one snapshot later than BL8 (I don't know the details of the reason
for the change in version numbering scheme). But until we see what
happens in field test, I can't promise that this is the final version.

There were bugs in BL7 that broke our code, and they are fixed in
later baselevels.

Look at note 1493 of this conference for more information.
Also, look in the CMA notes conference.

1824.2The joys of bulding ft software layered on ft software layered on ft software...TOOK::BURGESSSat Nov 16 1991 17:4913
This has been a hot issue lately for those LPs which are clients of
of DECthreads. The groundwork has been set so that future
releases of DECthreads will be upward compatible between major
releases.

But frankly, we want to ship FT kits ASAP with any version of DECthreads
that reliably supports DECmcc.

Since we plan to use most DCE products for our next release (v2.0),
we will be working closely with the development groups to insure
compatibility.

It looks like we will be using cma5e for DECmcc V1.2 Field Test.
