Technically Elite Concepts is currently building a Network Professor
Net/Pod Access Module which was demonstrated at Interop last month.
The AM monitors and controls Net/Pod LAN traffic collection devices
used with the Network Professor Multi-segment Ethernet LAN monitoring
system. Capabilities will include enabling and disabling alarm
conditions and accessing Net/Pod LAN statistics.
The Network Professor software is required to initially configure the
Net/Pod devices. In addition, this software gives a detailed breakdown
of protocols, traffic source and destination, utilization, etc.
If things go as planned, the AM should enter field test soon with a
probable announcement at Comnet at the end of January. If you want
more information on the Network Professor send me your mailstop and
I'll send you a Product Technical Description. We don't have much more
in writing on the AM at this point.

There is an AM under development for the NETPOD device. The NETPOD is
the probe that gathers raw data for the Network Professor application.
The AM will allow management of the pod itself, for example:
. what filters
. interval to collect data before dumping to network database
. etc
Although some statistics, like utilization, will be available through
the NETPOD AM, most of the heavy duty LAN statistical analysis functions
will not. The AM is meant to manage the pod.
The NETPOD AM is under development and currently has no published
availability dates.
Technically Elite Concepts, the owners of the Network Professor, is part
of our Strategic Vendor program. We will be continuing to work with
them to provide the NETPOD AM and future FM functionality to provide LAN
statistical analysis.
