1696.0. "DECmcc needs management targets NOW!" by TOOK::MATTHEWS () Wed Oct 23 1991 15:02

DECmcc is entering the integration testing phase of our V1.2 Release.
We need a variety of nodes/equipment that are live and a part of
EZnet to do a sanity check on the system as a whole and to look
at performance in a REAL network vs. testing in controlled test
    networks.

We are looking for a list of up to 250 workstations, bridges, routers
which we can periodically poll for reachability and basic status. We
want to be good corporate citizens, so we are asking for individual
users and/or organizations that do not mind the occasional polls.

We will not SET anything. We have enough of our own systems to test
to support that. We will not ask for proxy accounts or install
anything except in rare cases of TCP DA daemons on a few IP systems.
In most cases we will limit our probes to reachability only.

If you do not mind us occasionally probing your
workstation/bridge/router please send mail to Wally (TOOK::MATTHEWS)
letting me know your address, node name, node type (IP, DNA4, DNA5,
Bridge, IP router, DNA router), frequency of polling that you are
willing to tolerate (ie. once every 10 minutes, once an hour, 4 times
a day, once a day), and whether you are willing to support an IP
DA daemon on your IP workstation. We are looking for a balanced mix
of targets. We are especially interested in having a lot of IP
workstations and routers in the mix.

I would like to encourage everyone to participate. It will help
Digital field a world class Integrated Management System.
