1397.0. "map window structures corrupt" by DWOMV2::FILLMAN () Tue Aug 27 1991 13:43

    One day I quit the iconic map and it asked me if it should save
    changes, so I clicked yes. I brought mcc back up okay but when
    I opened one of my domains labeled FDDI I got a message from the
    PM of "MAP WINDOW MESSAGE: NOTIFICATION STRUCTURES MAY BE CORRUPTED.
    PLEASE DISABLE NOTIFICATION". I clicked okay and the map of the FDDI
    domain does not appear until I disable notification then do a lookup
    to the previous domain then go back to fddi. The problem is, all the
    icons and lines are all misplaced and you cant straighten them out
    with the mouse. I also tried to delete each icon and re-place them
    on the map....I got the map looking good and saved it. I closed and
    reopened MCC to see if I fixed it with no headway...same problem.
    Has anyone else seen this problem, and how do you fix it?
    I have alot of work in domains beneath the one having problems.

1397.1known bugTOOK::HAOTue Aug 27 1991 18:458
    There was a bug in V1.1, where if you tried to double-click into
    the last domain member, you get the "notification structures corrupted"
    message. The workaround is to create a new dummy domain member, such
    that FDDI isn't the last domain member. I believe note 929 (not sure?)
    explains this in more detail.

1397.2Thanks!DWOMV2::FILLMANTue Aug 27 1991 19:2410
    Christine,

    GREAT JOB!! THANKS ALOT! I read 929 and it was exactly the solution.
    Do I have to keep the dummy domain or now that it has created its
    notification structures, I can delete it?
    Will it be fixed in 1.2?

    			Thanks again,

1397.3keep it aroundTOOK::HAOWed Aug 28 1991 17:0813
    Sorry, you have to keep the dummy domain around. What you basically want
    to ensure is that the dummy domain is always the last one created in
    the
    parent domain. So let's say you currently have domains A, B, and C.
    You've added the dummy domain D. If later on, you decide to add
    domains E and F, you'll have to delete D and then re-add it after
    you've finished adding your valid domains.

    This is supposed to be fixed in V1.2. I'll let the responsible
    people confirm that.

Yes, it is fixed in X1.2.0 Ultrix and VMS.
