1299.0. "SNMP_AM T1.1 and DNS" by RDGENG::PRATT () Wed Jul 31 1991 09:32

Hi,

Unless I am missing something, I cannot see any reference in the documentation
or release notes that tells you that the DNS directory .mcc_ip is required. The
command procedures shipped with the BMS kit to initially setup the DNS namespace
do not create this directory either. This information needs to be included in
the documentation.

	Your right, it should be *RE-STATED* in the user guide. It
	*IS* stated in the DECmcc Installation Guide, I've even posetd
	the exact page number in another note within this conference.

	Your point is well taken.

    In future releases will the DNS directories needed by AM's be part of the
    install scripts? It seems simple enough to implement? Would save some
    confusion for those of us who haven't read all the DECmcc documentation
    yet...

    Just a thought.

The changes have to be made on the DNS server system. Not all DECmcc systems
(I hope) are running their own DNS server.
