1255.0. "Audit tool for DECmcc Systems" by NSSG::R_SPENCE (Nets don't fail me now...) Tue Jul 16 1991 18:28

    Have you ever been frustrated by incrementally adjusting parameters on
    a system until you got DECmcc running? I did and so I created a tool
    to check out a system for use by DECmcc. It checks for many of the
    parameter values suggested in the "Big Blue Handout" by Steve Wong.

    AUDIT_MCC.COM will check out:
     - User Quotas from the SYSUAF (The default is the current user or
                                    you can specify any other user)
     - Active SYSGEN parameters
     - If required shared images are installed
     - Disk Space

    Anyway, it can save a lot of time in a troubleshooting session or in an
    initial installation. It is a DCL Procedure and has been tested on
    VMS V5.3 - V5.4-2.

    It can be copied from NSSG::SYS$PUBLIC:[MCC.S-KIT]AUDIT_MCC.COM

   It is for use by Digital Employees Only and should not be given to customers.
   No warranty supplied although comments, bug reports and suggestions for
   improvements are welcome. Send your comments to NSSG::R_SPENCE

1255.1New version of AUDIT_MCCNSSG::R_SPENCENets don't fail me now...Fri Jul 19 1991 13:2128
    New version available today.

    Mostly a cleanup, and adds DNS Client version checking to identity
    the situations where people have mistakenly deleted all the DNS$
    files from the system and then reinstalled DNS.

    Ok, how many people have systems that can stand up to the audit?

    From now till noon on Tuesday, July 23, the first 5 people who
    submit a log (set host/log...) showing that the audit ran and
    didn't find anything to complain about get an ice cream sunday
    at Kimbals (down the street from here @LKG).

    To qualify, you must not make changes to the system as it stands
    when you read this before running the audit (ie; don't read the
    code to see what it checks and then fix the system before running it).

    Honor system, ok?

    Come on, how many DECmcc Development systems can make it :-)

    The auditor can be copied from

    NSSG::SYS$PUBLIC:[MCC.S-KIT]AUDIT_MCC.COM

    Thanks

    It makes checking out a system with/for DECmcc a breeze.

    One question, where can one find "RSM$GET_IMAGE_INFO.EXE" ?
    Your procedure uses it to check image versions !!!..........

    Rob,

    Thanks for the audit tool. Any automation that can help a consultant
    deliver DECmcc to a customer is a big help these days. Obviously, we
    won't leave the audit tool around when we leave the customer's site...

1255.5New Version available.NSSG::R_SPENCENets don't fail me now...Thu Sep 05 1991 17:0619
    A new version is available today.

    Just bug fixes and minor improvements.
    It now correctly represents Pagefile Size information.

    The auditor can be copied from

    NSSG::SYS$PUBLIC:[MCC.S-KIT]AUDIT_MCC.COM

    The associated executable for version checking of DNS is

    NSSG::SYS$PUBLIC:[MCC.S-KIT]RSM$GET_IMAGE_INFO.EXE

     and should be copied to the same directory that you put the audit
    tool.

    As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.

1255.6AUDIT_MCC update and location changeTOOK::R_SPENCENets don't fail me now...Tue Nov 19 1991 14:0812
    The location of the tool has changed.
    Also the requirement for RSM$GET_IMAGE_INFO.EXE has been removed.
    All you need now is the AUDIT_MCC.COM procedure.

    The new location is:

    NETS::USER$NETS:[MCC011.S-KIT]AUDIT_MCC.COM

    As always, comments and suggestions are welcome. Send them to
