1250.0. "Cluster Alias and ATG." by HOO78C::DOOLAARD (Which way....) Tue Jul 16 1991 08:00

    Hello,

    I now you can't register a node wih a cluster alias but what about
    those customers using a ATG (Address Translation Gateway).

    Is there a way to register a node with a different DECnet address then
    it actually returns on a show command.

    Carlo Doolaard.

1250.1Can Register with V1.2, but....TOOK::CAREYTue Jul 23 1991 13:3917

    DECmcc V1.2 will have some ability to register entities that aren't
    accessible during registration, so the entity can be dropped on a map
    even though it isn't completely registered.

    This doesn't solve your whole problem. The node4 will be on the map,
    but you won't be able to perform any operations on it because the
    DNA4_AM still enforces address consistency.

    We'd like to allow some directives to succeed to nodes that aren't what
    they say they are -- Clusters, ATG, Phase III nodes. However,
    providing consistency for FMs is very important, and opening up some
    operations for cluster alias nodes and such is a significant amount of
    work, further down the list.

1250.2Waiting for more goodies to come...HOO78C::DOOLAARDWhich way....Wed Jul 24 1991 09:106
    Hi Jim,

    Thanks for the answer,I guess managing DECnet nodes with DECmcc through
    a Address Translation Gateway will not be possible for quite some time.
