| .0> We claim that our products address all management areas defined by OSI.
To be precise, we claim that our design allows us to address all
the management functional areas defined by OSI.
Doing it is a simple (:-}) matter of implementation.
Of course, it would help if OSI had defined the management functions
required to implement security and accounting - as of now they are
still 'under development' in the standards bodies.

| In addition to Colin's answer, We need agents which collect accounting
data with enough reliability for it to be used by an accounting system.
Customers want accounting data for data similar to what they have
for telephone calls today. They want to know how much cost is
associated with each data session and they want it rolled up accross
the breadth of their multi-vendor/multi-supplier network. Lacking a
standards based answer as to what resources should contribute to this
roll up or a vendor ad-hoc answer, the network management systems
can't do anything useful until the basic data is collected.
Customers keep wanting accounting because they need this information
to manage their networks. We would love to give them the applications
they want because we could make money selling it to them. However,
without the availability of the raw data, I doubt that we could sell
enough to cover our development costs.
