1127.0. "PROBLEM: With Historian" by RDGENG::BICKNELL$P () Wed Jun 12 1991 12:15

Hi ,

   I hope someone can help with this problem ;

   I'm trying to run the Historian Background process but after
   I have submitted it to the batch queue it seems to run for about 2
   minutes & then disappears.

   The error that I get in the MCC_HISTORIAN_BACKGROUND.LOG file is as
   follows ;

The entities do exist & can be accessed via the iconic map & through DNS.

The only change that has been made to the system is that the user directories
have been moved from the system disk to another recently installed disk .

I have since created another domain & the Historian does run using this
new domain name,

 However all domains created before the move now respond with the same error
 message as above when I try to start the historian on them .

Is there something I can do except starting from scratch or returning the
directories to the already short of space system disk.

Thanks.

  One of the domain's characteristics attributes ( directory ) is used by
  Historian to define the place to store its files. Domain directory can be
  specified in the Create Domain directive (default is the current directory).

  Historian uses "Show domain all characteristics" in order to obtain domain
  directory but it can not find previously created MIR files because user's
  directories have been moved to another disk.

  If you copy *.*MCC_HIS* files back to the old place every thing will be OK
  (it has to be 5 files for each domain).

  Unfortunately there is no directive to modify domain directory attribute so
  if you need to change domain directory location the only way is to create a
  new domain. Note even if the domain name is the same Historian will accept
  it as a different one. Also please keep in mind that after Delete Domain
  operation you lose all historical data.

  Answer is no.
  In our wish list there is a function to copy all recording requests from
  one domain to another but this function is far from the top of the list.
