874.0. "SNMP AM instal bug??" by SUBWAY::AMMU () Fri Apr 05 1991 02:06

     I have installed an SNMP AM on top of DECmcc BMS1.1. Customer has
    EMS 2.O which has BMS 1.0 in it. License shows EMS . When I tried to
    install SNMP , the installation failed saying, it requires BMS or
    MCC director. Looks like install is looking at LICENSE database,
    only for BMS, and DIRECTOR, not for EMS. I got a temporary pack for
    BMS, from colorado and registered the license , then installed
    SNMP  fine.

    		Is this a bug??

874.2EMS includes BMS, isn't it?SUBWAY::AMMUThu Apr 11 1991 00:583

    But EMS includes BMS. How about that?

874.3EMS does include BMSDELNI::L_FELICEThu Apr 11 1991 12:1110
    EMS does include BMS, but it only provides one license (DECMCC-EMS).
    The EMS component products, such as BMS, check for this license and
    succeed. In this case, a BMS license would not be installed on the
    system, only an EMS license.

    Yes, the SNMP AM should check for the EMS and SMS licenses. It will
    be noted (with the proper procedure on how to get a PAK) in the SMS
    and EMS V2.1 release notes.

874.4Fixed in the next version...CHRISB::BRIENENDECmcc Bridge|Station|SNMP Management.Thu Apr 11 1991 15:405
The next version of TCP/IP SNMP AM will ship as part of the DECmcc V1.2
base system (i.e. DIRECTOR kit).

This means the problem documented in the base (and reply) note(s) will
disappear with DECmcc V1.2.
