816.0. "Flashy Alarms Demo?" by MAIL::CLAYTON (Merlin Clayton DTN 445-7217) Wed Mar 20 1991 14:38

Has anyone done any flashy demos using the Alarm FM?

I'm looking for things like out-dialing, DECvoice interface, running remote
procedures, etc.

Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks

At several of the shows (ie:DECworld, DECUS, etc.) we
	interfaced with DECalert.

When a DECmcc alarm fired, the Icon turned color and DECtalk
spoke the error condition, and the person on the floor was
paged. He would then call a specifed number and DECtalk would
	again speak the error condition.

	Enough flash?

Thats about all we've had time for.

816.3Is the demo available?SEDSWS::BAKERPaul Baker, UK Product and Technology Group - 844 3311Fri Mar 22 1991 08:3715

Is this demo available anywhere on the net so I can try it for the UK?

Alternatively, can anyone suggest an easy way to set up alarming so if
I send a system running DECmcc an event (eg reachability change), it (for
instance) updates an ICON and fires off a mail message.

I'm always willing to generate a demo, but don't want to repeat the
work if it's already been done. What I'm ultimately looking for is a
demo package to show off the most graphic capabilities of DECmcc to
customers that can be run by someone non-technical from a prepared
    script.

    Paul.

	Merlin,

Have you already installed the demo pointed to in note 452?
