| Paul,
MSU is considered a point product, like LTM, TSM, NMCC, etc.
It is Digital's answer to OpenView and SunNet Manager. It runs
on Ultrix and does a great job of managing SNMP networks.
DECmcc's goal has alway been to supercede the point products
and retire the point products when the right amount of
functionality was in DECmcc. The V1.2 DECmcc product will
probably have all the necessary MSU functionality as well as
run on both VMS and Ultrix. AS A PRODUCT, it is unclear how
long MSU will exist. AS A SERVICE TOOL, MSU will probably
continue indefinately.
For more information, I'd suggest you contact Tony Viola, our
marketing manager for Network Management.
