DECSA's under load apparently take a little time to clean up from a
link that has been dropped. We have found that DECrouters definitely
take up to a second from dropping a link until a new link can be
formed, and have modified the DECnet AM appropriately to deal with this
behavior.
Basically, it appears that the routers keep their resources focussed on
their main task, which is routing traffic, at the expense of management
performance. We have also taken steps to reduce the load that we put
on these systems when attempting to monitor or manage them. This work
will be available in the next kit for V1.1 that comes out.

Karl,
After corresponding with you a little more, I realized that you were
running MCC V1.0.
Unfortunately, MCC V1.0 has a lot of trouble dealing with systems like
the DECSA that are only capable of managing a single link.
This oversight has been corrected for all but the most extreme cases
with V1.1 of DECmcc. The load problem I discuss in .1 is a problem
that we've noticed only recently with the much more capable V1.1
version of the DECnet AM.
We have discussed the types of requests to stay away from to show
maximum capability with the V1.0 AM, and I'm afraid that that's about
all we can do until you can install V1.1.
Thanks for the note.
