658.0. "Iconic map on PCSA DECwindows" by ODIXIE::WELLONS () Thu Jan 24 1991 16:06

I have several comments/ questions about the use of DECMCC with the
Display set to a PC running PCSA Decwindows. I quess the most important
is do we support this? If so it has the following problems:
    1. The map customize window is not sizable. The boxes OK,APPLY,and
Cancel are not on the screen so you can not close the window once it is
brought up, except to exit mcc.
    2. Icon don't change color in response to alarms.
    3. The window seems to always come up to big for the PC screen.
    4. Icon and line colors are not setable.

I tried placing the color information that is in
    MCC_Resource.dat file I.E."mcc_pml.map_alarmMajor: Orange" into
the DECW$xdefaults.dat file. No change. When the alarms are reset the
icon that should have been orange flashes, as if getting changed, but
no color changes take place. I also added mcc_pml.map_lineColor: blue
    the lines stayed black.

Have you enabled the sophisticated window manager by starting the
VMS-based PCX$WINMGR application? This provides the title bar, icon,
push-to-back, and resize buttons.

Then you probably also want to enable the SLIDE_WINDOW parameter in
DWCONFIG. This slides the window to make sure that it fits on the screen.

None of this guarantees that the window will fit on the PC screen. After
all, even the DECterm window is too wide for the PC display. However, I
would hope that you would be able to grab the title bar to move the
window. Or do you mean that the map overflows in all four directions?

Somewhere else in this notes file I entered a note extolling the
virtues (I think that's what I did!!!) of making sure you were using
    V3 of PCDecwindows.
