503.0. "Time estimations for AM development" by FRAMBO::HIRSCH () Fri Nov 30 1990 06:58

    Although the time estimation for the development of an AM depends
    highly on the environment and the desired functionality, it would be
    very helpful, if those people who have actually experience in this
    area, could give a rough estimation of the time it took to develop the
    existing AM's (perhaps separately for the design, implementation and
    test phase) !

    Thanks in advance !

    along with the items Paul asked for, it would be interesting to
    know how long you have worked with MCC, is this the first AM you
    did, and why type of training (in MCC) have you had...

503.2My experienceTENERE::MCDONALDMon Dec 03 1990 10:419
    Starting with no experience with DECmcc beginning of September,
    using the design framework, it took me until the end of Nov. to do an
    AM with one global entity and 3 subentities, with 5 different
    attributes, and the directives Create, Delete, Show, Set, Add.
    I found it very easy to begin the AM with the design Framework.
    However it takes some time to get used to using all of the
    mcc routines (ILV, AES, MIR, ...). I think that the MM programming
    guide is very well written, but the old version of the SRM is
    not very easy to understand in places.

    Oops, subtract 2wks from the estimation in .2 (I forgot that I went on
    vacation during this period). So thats about 2 1/2 months including
    self training. But I think a lot depends on the complexity of the AM.
    It is very easy to do a simple AM using the MM programming guide and
    the Design Framework. However when you want to do things which are
    not explained in the MM programming guide it becomes more difficult.
