476.0. "Producing Graphs" by MINDER::ADRIAN () Thu Nov 15 1990 08:25

Is there any way of getting DECmcc to produce graphs/bar-charts etc of
data I have recorded using the HISTORIAN ?

I undertand that using the HISTORIAN allows me to save data in the MIR
which can at a later date be EXPORTED to RDB/VMS files that the 'REPORTS
    PACKAGE' can then use.

It seems to me that by using the 'REPORTS PACKAGE'
(ie MCC_COMMON:MCC_MENU.COM), I can produce reports of my exported data,
but only two types of graph (hourly and daily circuit utilisation for
    Phase IV entities).

Will the 'REPORTS PACKAGE' be enhanced and become more integrated in
the future and if so when ?

Could I perhaps use the Performance Analyser FM to produce the various
graphs and bar charts I am looking for ?

Are there any plans to allow the EXPORTER to directly create data in
a format that a package such as DECchart could understand ?

    Help greatly appreciated.

	Adrian,

The EXPORT FM allows you to either take data already collected
(past time) by the HISTORIAN FM or data collected directly from
the entity (present - future) and put it out into an Rdb
database. The relation should be defined in the documentation.

We have created a series of Datatrieve and DECgraph reports to
"get you going". It is impossible for us to create all the
reports a user may want. Our goal was to get the data out into
a VIA (Vax Info Arch) database so that any report tool or query
tool could be used to create your own reports or graphs. You
can also move the data from Rdb to any other database if that
	is what you desire.

While we will be creating some additional reports - to be
defined -, I'd get familiar with the tools and process and
create what you want to see.
