465.0. "ICONIC Alarm Notification?" by DWOVAX::DWOVAX::LICAUSE (Al Licause) Thu Nov 08 1990 18:28

Can anyone tell me if the MCC alarms in X1.1.0 have the capability
of notifying of an alarm condition visually through the window
display (i.e. change color or indicate change via some visual
method on the entity displayed in the window)?

I've read through the alarms section and can only find ways to either
mail, send to a log or notify via terminal broadcast.

Any help or pointers to correct doc's greatly appreciated.

465.2DECmcc EFT 1.1 supports EventsWAKEME::ROBERTSKeith Roberts - DECmcc Alarms TeamMon Nov 12 1990 13:5817
For DECmcc EFT 1.1 ... Alarms will post events when certain actions occur:

  Configuration Rule Created
  Events Rule Deleted
                  Rule Enabled
                  Rule Disabled

  Notification Rule Fired
  Events Rule Exception

The Iconic Map, via Notification Services, will process Alarm Notification
Events and thereby changing the color of an ICON on the Map.

Also, the Rule Attribute "Procedure" will become optional ... and Alarms
will always post events.

These "events" will also be available through the FCL PM in an
asynchronous manner using the NOTIFY commands (notification FM).
But please note that there is a change required. In previous releases
rules were not bound to specific domains, to work with the notificaiton
FM it is necessary that the rules be created within the context
of a domain (FCL equivalent CREATE DOMAIN xxx RULE yyy .....). In
the EFT kit you will be able to do this using the rule icon in the
tool box, and setting your view to the rules view.
