You said that everything was fine with the last MCC version. What version
was that?
- MCC V1.0 UT1_0_1 EFT Update kit (July 3)
- MCC V1.0 MCS_A kit (about the third week of Aug, I think)
- MCC V1.0 SSB kit (early Sept)
If you are going from the MCC V1.0 UT1_0_1 EFT Update kit to the MCC V1.1 IFT
kit, then you will have to delete all domains, deregister all domain members,
and reconstruct things with the IFT kit. Refer to note 352. The symptoms
mentioned in that note are different, but if you are upgrading from UT1_0_1,
the problem is the same.

-< Does look like DNS to me. >-

re .1
I had read the release notes. However, I forgot to deregister the instances
and delete domain before installing the new Kit. Not a serious problem in
this case since I only had a domain with a few instances.
I did go to DNS$CONTROL and manually delete objects and links. But I could not
find anything related to DOMAIN in DNS.
Register/Deregister/Directory ARE working with the new kit

Note 352.3 DOMAIN deletion problem 3 of 5
BYBLOS::TAMER 1 line 26-SEP-1990 16:51
-< error in title of my previous reply >-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The title of the previous rely should have read, Does NOT look like DNS to me.

Note 352.4 DOMAIN deletion problem 4 of 5
TOOK::JESURAJ 11 lines 2-OCT-1990 10:48
-< DOmains are objects too >-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Domain are stored as objects in DNS name space. So if you have deleted
all the previously registered objects (nodes, bridges, domains etc..)
you are all set.
By the by, this problem occurs only when you update from V1.0 EFT kit to
V1.1 IFT. If you update from V10_MCS, or V10_SSB kit this should not
cause problem.

In going from an earlier version of MCC to V1.1 IFT (X1.1.0) you will not
lose map files. It is the domain information which has to be recreated.
If you have an MCC command file to create and populate your domains so that
things are just as they were before, then you can open your (newly
recreated) domain without touching the map file.
The map file format has not changed with the MCC V1.1 IFT (X1.1.0) release
and will not change for the upcoming EFT release. However, the map file name
will change in order to be more consistent with the rest of MCC and to allow
a map to be created for any domain that you can create. As Fred stated, this
will involve only renaming files for the next release.
