393.0. "Installation REPOSNONAME error" by MINDER::ADRIAN () Mon Oct 08 1990 10:24

I've hit a problem when trying to install DECmcc V1.1 internal field
test. Firstly, a bit of info:

- There is no previous version of the product installed
- I'm running VMS V5.3-1.
- The actual kit being installed is as detailed in note 3.25
- The installation is being performed on a DNS client node. Prior
to starting the installation, I executed MCC_DNS_BASIC_SETUP on
the DNS server node I'm intending to use.

The errors start to occur in the DECmcc DIRECTOR Postinstallation procedure

The MCC_STARTUP_DIR command file is invoked and the following text is
displayed :-

"The MCC_STARTUP_DIR startup procedure for DECmcc X1.0.1 is now running.

 DECmcc (X1.1.0)

%MCC-W-REPOSNONAME, repository ID 4 is missing name, attempting recovery
%MCC-W-REPOSNONAME, repository ID 5 is missing name, attempting recovery
%MCC-W-REPOSNONAME, repository ID 6 is missing name, attempting recovery
%MCC-W-REPOSNONAME, repository ID 7 is missing name, attempting recovery
 %MCC-E-NOREPOSEXIST, repository does not exist
 %MCC-E-NOREPOSEXIST, repository does not exist

The MCC_STARTUP_DIR startup procedure for DECmcc X1.0.1 is now ending"

A similar sort of thing happens with MCC_STARTUP_BMS.

The command which actually causes these command files to fail is
"MCC> TEST MCC 0".

If i try to invoke DECmcc via MANAGE/ENTERPRISE/INTERFACE=DECWINDOWS
it fails (not surprisingly) with the same error (REPOSNONAME).

I've looked in various manuals (including the mesages manual) but haven't
found anything which is of help.

I suspect the problem may revolve around DNS and I am currently looking
into that possibility.

Any help greatly appreciated.

393.1What is your TDF logical set to?TOOK::GUERTINWherever you go, there you are.Mon Oct 08 1990 11:3110
There is a bug the TDF logic where a value of 0:00 is not handled
properly. Changing it to be +1:00, or -1:00, or even -0:01 corrects
the problem for now. The result of not handling the TDF value of 0
correctly, is what you are probably seeing. This will be fixed in the
    next release of MCC.

Notes 349.* explain the problem in more detail.

Thanks for the pointer. I've just read notes 349.* and I think I may
know what the problem is. My TDF value should be OK (I entered +1.00
for British Summer Time) BUT i did not install version 1.0 of the
Developers Toolkit before installing DECmcc V1.1 IFT. I'll give
this a go and see what happens.
