171.0. "Bug in MCC_STARTUP_DIR.COM" by NSSG::DAVE (Dave Lyons - Networks DCC - 226-5934 - LKG2-1/S4) Fri Jul 06 1990 20:19

The MCC_STARTUP_DIR.COM file that the latest kit left on my disk had a bug in it
that prevents its working correctly.

The two subroutines (INSTALL_IMAGE,DEASSIGN_LOGICAL) are not terminated with
$ENDSUBROUTINE statements. If that is fixed, then they work OK.

This bug and accompanying solution has been identified on a system running
VMS T5.4-4GE upon which no version of MCC has previously been installed.
Systems running V5.3, and 5.3-1 have been able to successfully install the
kit. We will continue to investigate this problem. However, the solution
pointed out will be included in an update to the kit. People experiencing
this problem should get the updated kit. A subsequent reply to this note
that will be entered today, will contain the pointer to the updated kit.
If you have installed successfully, you will not need to get the updated kit.
Also, in order to reduce the amount of copying, only the .a and .b parts of
the MCCBMSUT011, and only the .a part of the MCCDIRUT011 kit will need to
be recopied. Additionaly details will appear in the reply.

We appreciate the feedback we have received on this problem, and apologize
for any inconvenience that may have been caused.

A new kit with the correction to the problem described in this note has
been made. Rather than replace the current kit on KEEL, for the sites
requiring the change, please contact me.
