73.0. "TCP/IP details?" by NZOV01::PARKINSON (Reunite Gondwannaland!) Tue Mar 13 1990 00:29

Sales Update November 13 1989 mentioned TCP/IP networks were able to be
managed from mcc. I haven't seen any other information about this. Is there
    a more technical explanation?

I specifically need to know if this means that part of the mcc product
runs under Ultrix (or can we only do it from VMS) and have we implemented
a windows interface for the TCP/IP part.

    Thanks
    Roger

V1 of DECmcc/VMS contains an SNMP access module to manage TCP/IP
networks. However, the host system must be VMS. We are in the
planning stages for DECmcc/Ultrix which will run all of mcc on Ultrix.

    on second thoughts... please clarify.
Is DECmcc/VMS V1 something that is here now or is it futures. I understand
    that DECmcc/Ultrix is futures.

DECmcc/VMS V1 (new name?) is in External Field Test.

I guess that means it's still "futures"...

The TCP/IP SNMP Access Module will be entering Internal Field Test
at the end of this month. Anyone wishing to be a FT site please
	get in touch with me.

My understanding from a packging point of view is that customer
who today buy the DECmcc SMS or EMS will have to pay for the
TCP/IP SNMP AM . It will be called an Optional module .

The reason is that the SMS/EMS is a vehicule transition
to EMA-compliant at no charge for EQUIVALENT FUNCTIONALITY.
    Regards.
