40.0. "Pointer to DECmcc EMS/SMS kits and docs" by TOOK::W_MCGRATH (DTN 226-5075) Mon Jan 22 1990 14:39

This is probably the best place to publish this:

The SSB kits for DECmcc Enterprise Management Station (EMS) and DECmcc Site
Management Station (SMS) are available in the NETSTATION proxy directory on
NICER::. DECmcc SMS includes the following products: TSM V1.3-1, RBMS
V2.0, LTM V1.2, and ETHERnim V2.2. DECmcc EMS includes these products
plus NMCC/DECnet Monitor V2.2.

DECmcc EMS and SMS is a repackaging of these existing network management
products under a DECwindows FileView umbrella. Changes were made to some
products to make them compatible with each other. Bug fixes were made to
the individual products. A single LMF license and a single installation
procedure is being implemented with either either product (DECmcc EMS or
DECmcc SMS).

The product saveset for DECmcc EMS/SMS and final documentation, including the
DECmcc EMS/SMS Installation Guide and DECmcc EMS/SMS User's Guide are also
contained in the kits directory. Please read the release notes before
attempting the installation.

The directory for the kits and documentation is:
	NICER::DUB0:[MCGRATH.NETSTATION]

The savesets are:
	MCCEMS010.A		OR		MCCSMS010.A
		.					.
		.					.
		.					.
	MCCEMS010.I				MCCSMS010.F

Please note that only one PAK need be installed for the packages. The PAKs
are available through VTX (DECMCC-EMS or DECMCC-SMS are the LMF license
names).

Also, please refrain from performing any copies until after hours Eastern
Standard time.

    The DECmcc Management Station (SMS/EMS) V1.0 software and documentation
    is still available on NICER in the location that Will previously noted.
    I just did a "directory" to NICER and found that I could access all of
    the necessary files (world-readable).

    Please try again - you should be able to access it on NICER.

40.5CDs and DFS - the perfect marriageCRBOSS::LEMONSAnd we thank you for your support.Thu Apr 12 1990 16:4210
    DECmcc EMS V1.0 and DECmcc SMS V1.0 are on the March 1990 AD
    Consolidated Distribution CD. Included are the kits, SPD/SSA,
    Installation Guide and Cover Letter (the latter two in PostScript
    format only).

    So save a network cycle and use your local CDs, preferably DFS-served
    to the system you will install on; that way, you won't even have to
    copy the savesets!

    It is likely that there will be a need to use this tool under Ultrix
    before VMS as far as "real" Phase V is concerned. Is there an Ultrix
    kit available, or are there plans (timeframes?) to produce one? If
    these questions should be directed at product management, can someone
    tell me who that is please.

    Thanks,
    Keith
40.9You won't see it with this productTOOK::W_MCGRATHDTN 226-5075Wed May 09 1990 21:089
    This tool is a PACKAGE of multiple VMS-based software applications. It
    is not worthwhile to port all these applications to ULTRIX in lieu of
    work being done addressing the MCC Director on ULTRIX.

    There are announcements looming which will address a separate product
    offering on ULTRIX -- but DECnet Phase V is not in this product
    offering. The person to talk to would be Hakim (DELNI::) Dhilla.

Since DECmcc SMS and EMS are a package of individual DEC products, I thought
it would be useful to list the specific product notes conferences, where you
can find more information on each.

There are no files of those names in that directory. In looking over the
directory, I found a [.SMS-EMS] sub-directory, which is protected.

Thanks in advance...

    The DECmcc SMS and EMS V2.0 kits were (and will be) available

    moved disks around this weekend, someone changed protections.

40.18DECmcc EMS/SMS V2.1 SSB kits have been rebuilt!!!TOOK::SZABIETThu Jun 13 1991 17:5544
    The DECmcc EMS/SMS V2.1 SSB kits have been rebuilt. You can find
    these updated kits at the following locations:

    DECmcc EMS V2.1:

        PPINC::DUA0:[SZABIET.PUBLIC.EMS_V21_KIT]MCCEMS021.*

    DECmcc SMS V2.1:

        PPINC::DUA0:[SZABIET.PUBLIC.SMS_V21_KIT]MCCSMS021.*

    The updated SSB kits contain the following corrections:

   1) A Performance Analyzer problem in the BMS component has been fixed
      in DECmcc EMS V2.1 and DECmcc SMS V2.1

   2) A DNS server setup problem in the BMS component has been fixed and
      release noted in DECmcc EMS V2.1 and DECmcc SMS V2.1

   3) An installation problem in the DECelms component has been fixed in
      DECmcc EMS V2.1 and DECmcc SMS V2.1 (i.e., the restoration of
      saveset F)

   4) A workaround to the RDB V4.0 problem has been provided and release
      noted within the DECnet Monitor component of DECmcc EMS V2.1

                             *** NOTE ***

    If you have previously copied and installed the DECmcc EMS/SMS V2.1 SSB
    kits (i.e., savesets dated April 23-25 1991), it is strongly recommended
    that you reinstall using the *updated* SSB kit. It is also strongly
    recommended that you read the release notes carefully before installing
    DECmcc EMS/SMS V2.1, since there has been additional information
    incorporated into the release notes.

    These updated kits have been included in the July 1991 CD ROM
    distribution.

    Lisa
