112.0. ""problems connecting to server"" by ATHINA::KARVOUNIS () Thu Feb 20 1997 12:34

    Hello,

I am also experiencing some problems. I have installed TLC 2.5
    on a VAX VMS 6.0 system running ALL-IN-1 V3.0A. I cannot upgrade
to V3.1. I am having problem connecting from Exchange when I enter
the password the username I am getting a failure message.

On logging on after details I received the error

"AIDA server unavailable or communication to server not
    currently possible.

On the client side the Aida server is in running state and I have
also checked the parameters. Maybe on the pc side where I have
installed MAPI I need to define some parameters? Can anyone
suggest or help me. I now that V3.0a is unsupported but we
only need MAPI to read /or copy some documents from our folders.

    regards
    Olympia

Olympia,

Is the Aida Server set up to run over TCP/IP? If so, what port number is
it using?

    Hi,

Thanks for your answer. No my Aider Server is not set to run over
TCP/IP. How do I do this unfortunately I have not much experience
in teamlinks and Tcp/ip. When I look at the Aide Server setup the
section where it says TCP/IP it is blank.

The truth of the matter is that I have spent 2 weeks trying to get all
this to work and now I am totally confused. I have been reading up on
all this. Do you think I have a chance at ever getting this to work?

    regards
    Olympia

Olympia,

You need to stop the Aida server, then edit the configuration for it. Set
the TCP/IP port to 7300. Then restart the server.

You will probably need to do this for the file cabinet server as well. For
this, set the TCP/IP port to 7373.

Now you should be ready to run the MAPI Driver. Do not give up all hope -
it's woth persevering.

112.4"problems connecting"ATHINA::KARVOUNISFri Feb 21 1997 13:4724
    Hi,

With the above I was able to pass the original problem. I set the
TCP/IP port to 7373 for the file cabinet server but I cannot get it
    to starting state.

Now from the PC when I enter the login details it progresses to
the next login menu which is connecting to the exchange domain. I
receive the error 'ALL-IN-1 Communication error has occured.'

I want to clarify something. When I login in and give access
details from the server I have to link up with the same exchange
account. This is correct or can I use any allin1 account from any
other node. What I mean is do I have to use say eg. if PAGE is the
ALL-IN-1 account does PAGE have to also be the Exchange account.

Well anyway this is what I am doing I just want to be sure that
I am not doing something wrong.

    regards

ps thanks for your help and support

Olympia,

There is no link between the Exchange and ALL-IN-1 accounts. You can use
any account on any node.

112.6More communication problemsNEWVAX::KOZIANAWed May 21 1997 08:1012
    Hi,
I am also having problems communicating with the server. My customer
has two clusters...one connects without problem..the other is not
quite the case. Can you tell me which TCP/IP daemon is being used for
the MAPI driver? Both clusters worked fine until today :^( Some changes
had been made to TCP/IP on the "bad" cluster but after attempting to go
back we still haven't had any luck. ALL-IN-1 is configured for IP with
the proper ports and AIDA is enabled. By the way sometimes we get the
"AIDA server" problem and other times we get user communication error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hi,

Are there any error messages in the AIDA or FCS log files?

    Cheers
