OpenVMS VAX 6.2. Dunno about applied patches

BACKUP bombs at 13AA2 when i use the /volume qualifier to select a specific
input volume of a volume set. This only happens when it touches a file with a
file number within the FID being larger than 2^16, that is the file number
extension field <> 0. We cross-checked this against backup runs with other input
volumes, also against other files: it depends on both being present: the /volume
switch, and the file number > 2^16.

COMET came up with the same problem under 5.5-2 (SRC951112000109). They tried to
reproduce it on inhouse machines, but not knowing about the dependency of the
FID values they weren't able to reproduce it. This is the register dump:
