337.0. "setup /t behavior" by PTPM05::HARMON (Paul Harmon, ACMSxp Engineering) Tue Feb 11 1997 11:25

I'm having the same sorts of problems described in notes 307 and 317
when I try to install SQL Server 6.5 on a Windows NT 4.0 system.

An additional puzzling detail I'm seeing is inconsistent behavior
when the "/t RebuildRegistry = ON" option is used. Other people
say that when they run setup.exe with that option, the installation
doesn't actually happen - only the registry cleanup. I seem to
recall that happening for me a few days ago, too. But now, an
installation (unsuccessful, *of course*) is happening when I use
/t. Which way is it supposed to be?

Another detail...sometimes when I try this installation, the problem
seems to be an inability for setup to find master.dat (which does exist
    in \mssql\data).

Well, I added the rights to Administrator that were mentioned in topic
307 (I think), but that didn't help right away.

I tweaked so many little details I can't begin to remember them all,
then, all of a sudden /t started not doing an install again.

I tweaked one more thing, did another setup /t and walked away to
get a coke (I didn't expect an installation to occur). When I came
back, there was a message on the screen saying that the installation
    had completed successfully.

    Go figure.
