581.0. "Support for TL8xx ATLs" by SNOFS1::PENNYSIMON (Simon Penny - Storage BS, Sydney, Australia) Tue Apr 15 1997 00:26

    Question:

I want to support TL8xx ATLs on an NT Alpha server
The Networker 4.3 for NT SPD suggests that all libraries are supported,
but the latest SOC web pages only mention TL826 as supported

What is the story about the other products in the TL8xx range?

What software bits and pieces do I need to support multiple TL8xx
libraries on a single NT server (I don't need any client machines
    at this point)

    Thanks for any help

For software products, the SPD is the gospel as far as
what is and isn't officially supported.

So, if the NT 4.3 SPD says it's supported, then it is supported.

The definitive NT expert is out sick right now, or I'd have her
answer here.

581.2what jukebox do you want to know about for software specifics?DECWET::LENOXPass the popcorn, on with the show.Wed Apr 16 1997 13:3131
When you say multiple TL8xxs on a system, do
you mean linking the TL82x towers into a multitower
configuration? If so, we mention that specific
firmware is needed for that to work (what is in
the spd was the version we knew at the time the
SPD was released, which predated the release of
the firmware). We support up to three towers
(mainly because that is what we tested with and
don't have more towers to play with). Such a
configuration is seen by NetWorker as one jukebox.

Otherwise, multiple jukeboxes would have no new
requirements over single jukeboxes.

You need the proper jukebox license(s), depending on
the number of slots per jukebox, see SPD for this.

TL810 series jukeboxes (TL810 and TL812)
TL820 series jukeboxes (TL820, TL822, and TL826)
should be covered by the current SPD.
We need the correct driver for the tape drive,
which is available from Digital or as part of
various NT service packs.

Where are the latest SOC web pages to which
you refer? (We have someone working on any
incorrect infomation in other Digital web pages).

TL894 and TL893 will be part of the new SPD.
The TZ89 driver is part of NT 4.0 SP2.

    Hi

And speaking of the TZ89, into which Digital UNIX release will support
    be added?

    Thanks!

    Hi Kevin

Thanks for the answer. I think "V4.3, due out in June/July." is the
answer to the version of NetWorker, right? But have you heard what
version of Digital UNIX inititates support for TZ89s?

    Thanks again!

V4.0 or V4.0A is the first version that has recognition support
for them, though I don't have V3.2D+ to check those cam_data.c
	files.
