415.0. "REV 18 Multithreaded ???" by WOTVAX::WALLS_T () Wed Feb 12 1997 08:26

    I have heard that PRO/E Rev 18 will be multithreaded on NT. To what extent
    I do not know, but what concerns me is the extra performance boost this
    will give to dual and quad Pentium Pros.

    If this is correct will Rev 18 under Alpha NT be multithreaded and will
    it work on our "servers" to overcome the Pentium Pro scenario.

    Thanks.

    As far as I know, V18 is not multithreaded to any extent on NT,
    Alpha OR Intel.

    I just found out that there IS a small piece of Pro/E that is multi
    threaded in V18. It's the part of Pro/E that tessalates the model
    in preparation for shaded display.

    This multithreading was originally done by Sun back in the V16 or V17
    timeframe. PTC did an NT port of it for V18.

    I don't know whether the code is enabled for Intel only or not, but
    I'll find out.
