A customer and a PTC AE has seen similar problems as 
those discussed in 408.*, but this is on a PWS 200i.
This is reproducable through the attached trail file,
and a few additional commands. According to the 
customer, the problem is often seen when more than
one window is in use. The problem only occurs with
the OpenGL driver for the AccelPRO 2000. The customer
was running NT 3.51, using version 3.2.1 (and earlier)
of the driver. I could also reproduce this on NT 4.0, 
using the 4.1 (and earlier) drivers. This problem was 
not visible on a Miata, using physically the same 
graphics card, with the 4.1.03 driver. I could also
not reproduce this on an HP Vectra XW with AccelPRO
2500TX, under NT 4.0, using the 4.1 drivers. I know
that the problem was evident with Pro/E 17 9647, and
I believe it was also visible on 9639.

The trail file uses two of the standard Pro/E demo 
directories, hset17 and mfgintro17. The trail file
assumes that these directories are available under
C:\PTC\DEMO. Once the trail file completes, select
"retrieve", hit return to use the default part, and
the machine usually hangs. I've seen instances where
this did not hang the system. Going into "spin" mode
was then sufficient to create the hang.

The initial comparison with the HP Vectra was done in PTC's booth
at a trade show: not the ideal place to start switching cards...

Now I've tried it, and we're still the bad guys. The functioning 
AccelPRO 2500TX from the Vectra machine reliably duplicates
the original hangs on the Kauai. I was unable to try the AccelPRO
2000 under NT 4.0 in the Vectra, but it works ok with 3.51 (not
identical drivers, though). I don't care too much about 3.51, but
I sure would like this problem to go away for 4.0.

Should I let MCS submit an official bug-report for this?

    There is an Intel 4.1.10 driver for NT 4.0 Intel at
    www.service.digital.com.
    
    Get that and then try it. Supposedly, the 4.1.10 driver fixes some
    PCI bus timing issues that may be unique to Kauai.

I just learned that PTC are still promoting NT 3.51 as a "more stable
platform" than 4.0. The reason is that they've had some problems with 
PDM access using 4.0. Sorry, I don't have any details on this. Is 
this a familiar statement, or should I probe further into the 
specifics?

    I hadn't heard this, but it wouldn't surprise me. PTC is very
    conservative about recommending new OS's, compilers, etc.
    Though, if there are THAT many problems, I don't think they should
    have certified NT 4.0! (IMHO)
