JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

The Corporate Library Group is seeking one Information Consultant and one 
Senior Information Specialist to participate on projects, programs and 
consulting assignments in the areas of market research, competitive 
intelligence and information technology.

This is a chance to join a dynamic team which is focused on finding creative 
ways to research, collect, evaluate and distribute strategic information to a 
demanding customer base.
    
    
RESPONSIBILITIES OF EACH ROLE:

  Information Consultant -
 
* Develop relationships and partner with the business units to anticipate 
  information needs, primarily in the 64-bit/ Open Systems strategic areas.
* Research, design and maintain optimal information solution(s) for the 64-bit/
  Open Systems strategic areas.
* Promote informed decision-making by understanding and objectively evaluating 
  the rapidly changing information environment.
* Transform information into knowledge through customized products and services.
* Participate in cross-functional and cross-organizational information 
  initiatives.
* Actively assist in the development of other team members.
 
    
  Senior Information Specialist - 
 
* Provide first point-of-contact to Digital's internal customer base, as one of
  the Reference Desk staff.
* Assess customer's information needs. 
* Provide on-demand ready-reference information support to Digital's internal 
  customers.
* Provide in-depth reference and research services.
* Work with Information Consultants as directed, on project assignments. 
 
 
    
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
 
  Information Consultant -
 
* Masters degree in Library and Information Science strongly preferred.
* More than five years experience in business or corporate information research
  and management.
* Formal Marketing qualification(s) and/or relevant experience highly desirable.
* Direct customer relationship-building experience required.
 
    
  Senior Information Specialist -
 
* Degree in Library and Information Science strongly preferred.
* More than three years experience in business and/or corporate reference 
  information research and management, preferably in the IT industry.
* Formal Marketing qualification(s) and/or relevant experience highly desirable.
* Direct customer contact experience required.
 
 
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
    
  Essential:
    
* Broad knowledge of market research sources and data gathering tools.
* Broad knowledge of 64-bit/Open Systems market and technical trends 
  (Consultant role).
* Demonstrable understanding of current trends and models for delivering 
  information content.
* Proven customer needs analysis skills.
* Excellent communication & negotiation skills.
 
    
 Preferred:
    
* Highly developed competitive-intelligence gathering skills. 
* An established network of contacts with other senior professionals across the
  information content industry would be highly desirable.
* Internet/intranet expertise and web-authoring skills a definite plus.
 
    
  Nice to have:
    
* Awareness of and/or membership of one or more significant Information 
  Professionals societies preferred. 
* Experience of delivering electronic information solutions to the customer 
  desktop would be advantageous.
* Strong working knowledge of PC software tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, 
  PowerPoint, MS Project etc).
