We had a similar problem with a customer installing LINKworks on HP-UX 10. The
problem was that with the LANG variable set to american.iso89951 certain basic
UNIX vommands such as grep and eval were returning VERY strange results.

In this case the script was using grep/eval commands to "parse" the Manaers
file in order to remove any blank lines or any lines which begin with either a
space or tab. The script should have been returning the lines beginning with
TYPS=CM, TYPE=AM, and TYPE=CELL. These lines contain the name of the database
which is then used for connecting to Oracle. BUT, due to this bug, the script
was returning only blank lines, hence there was NO database to which to
connect.

Try removing the section of the login script (depending on the shell) for the
omdba and omuser accounts which sets this variable and set it to the default
"C".

Hope this helps,

Thanks,

Cb.
