This is a HUGE game....right Toby?

Ottawa needs the two points and you guys would rather have a decent
draft pick so lets all hope for a Senators' win ;-)

    Have a good weekend,

Did anybody watch this game? Does anybody know the outcome at
least? I was busy all day Saturday and never got to watch the game or
the replay. I never even got to see the paper yesterday. Did they lose?

Yes they lost. 5-4 the final.
To the bottom. The very bottom.

The Bruins were down 5 - 2 early in the third period but almost tied the
    game up.

The Bruins were awarded a penalty shot but Tugnutt made the
save. I don't know who took the shot.

I didn't see the game but from all accounts it looks like Tugnutt
    stole the game for Ottawa.

Bourque didn't play. Carey was pulled after the second period.

saddest part about this is that even with the Bruins losing virtually
every game they play they are still not in LAST !!! How bad is San
Jose? Do you think they are tanking every game too!

Noone has mentioned the article in Sunday's Globe. Long interview
with Sinden. Worst news: O'Connell is slated to replace Sinden someday!
Yecch! Harry plans on working a few more years, and then Mike O
    is next at bat.

Meanwhile, Harry said (again) he's under no $$ constraints, BUT,
then he goes on to say: Poulin wanted too much money, Dave Reid
wanted too long a contract, their main scouting guy (scooped up
by Milbury in NYI) wanted too much $$, Galley wanted too much $$$.
    What a joke.

Also, Galley says guys around the league don't want to come here,
are afraid of the turmoil, espcially the Oates trade, and
the Neely/Stevens benching. (I knew that'd come back to haunt the
team, and it has, more than once!)

Don't get your hopes up for a Cup anytime soon!
138.9KOOLIT::R_PLOURDETue Mar 25 1997 10:5816

Sinden has been saying sine the Milbury days (just another year or 2)
then he'll retire. I honestly think that is why Milbury left.
He realized that Sinden was never going to step down and let him have
control. Since Milbury grew a spine he split town... Now he's got
virtual control of the NYI. Good move for him. As for OConnell, well
he's a big baby in diapers... He was when he played and he still is.
He will have no problem with Uncle Harry staying around forever..
OConnell likes it that way... this way he doesn't have all the
    pressure.

The only way to have hope is to see someone come in and buy this team
then kick all the management out on their fanny.

Ron - how long have you been reading minds...... it's good to see that
someone has figured it all out. You know what each of the top brass are
thinking and at all times - you truly are gifted.

Can you tell us, in your infinite wisdom, what moves the B's need to make
to have positive change? Side note, can you tell me what I'm thinking ???

Great article in the Globe on sunday! Gotta wonder about Harry.
This money thing is ridiculous. Besides the list someone else
posted, there's also Ray Bourque's arbitration case. If $ was not
an issue, why the beef with Bourque ?

So Harry likes the team he has now. Great. We're in 2nd to last place.

Send in those votes for Adam Oates 7th player award!!

Do you really think that Bourque, at/near the end of his career, deserved
whatever his agent wanted for him? If that's the logic, let the players
call out their salary wants and the owners should pay them.

>	So Harry likes the team he has now. Great. We're in 2nd to last place.

I've never heard Harry state that he likes this Team in its present form.
He has acknowledged that mistakes were made and the club isn't where he
thought it would be. I'm not a Harry supporter, but let's not make comments
   that are exaggerated.

I'd like to see Harry retire *but* then we would have Mike O. taking over,
which is the lesser of the two evils???

No. My point was simply that Harry Sinden is a cheap bastard. Hey, I don't
like the price of gas either, but I want my car to move and I want performance.

Well, I read this quote recently and almost coughed up a meatball when I did.
No exaggeration. We are a shitty team. What did we have, 2 shots on net in
the 2nd last nite ? Geez!

I agree with ya on this one. But at least O'Connell won't last (IMHO).

>Tough crowd!

Not really - just tired of reading what people think people are thinking
and doing. I agree Sinden has not done a good job as GM - but I do not
think he is satisfied. I'm sure he recognizes their position in the
standings and NO ONE in this file knows what happens in the locker room
or in the meetings that occur between upper management. So why speculate...

It reminds me of listening to Bob Ryan.

What I find ironic in all this discussion about how cheap Sinden and
the B's owners are, is that the Bruins have the highest average ticket
price in all North American pro sports...Something's just not right
when you put the two together...

Barry, We should just shut the conference down... We can't talk about
or waste time speculating what goes through the minds of people in the
B's organization because _sbn is tired of reading it. We should listen
to _sbn because we know one thing for sure.... If steve's wife is on
the phone for hours it's because she's tired of listening to him *AND*
everyone including little _sbn needs someone to care about them.

You know so far Steve you have said - 1. Don't speculate about what the
B's management is doing or saying because we aren't in the meetings
and we don't see all of the data that decisions are being made with.
    2. Only believe less than half of what you see or read from the press.
    3. You can't listen to the players because they are all spoiled and only
thinking about themselves. 4. Don't say anything about the B's owners
because they are in it for the business and we don't have access to their
books so we can't possibly be in a position to make judgements on their
financial situations or decisions. 5. We shouldn't speculate or judge
trades until some period of time after a player trade is made because we
don't know all the details around why and how players X,Y,Z were involved
in trades. 6. The list goes on....

I know I have para-phrased but I think I'm accurate on your stand on
each of these discussion points. I guess with all this going on fans are
just supposed to enjoy what they put out on the ice for us to watch and
have blind faith that the people in those positions are doing what they
can and it will be the luck of the draw that makes teams better or
    worse in the future.

No Ron...... that's not what I'm saying. I think it would serve this file
better if we discussed areas of improvement (ie. trades, free agents and
draft choices). Not the drinking problems of Harry and the thoughts of
the rest of B's management, along with harping on past trades.
