2302.0. "DEPCM-BA shows as "PCI Bus" in PC Card display" by ALFAXP::M_HYDE (From the laboratory of Dr. Jekyll) Fri Feb 14 1997 16:03

I have a HiNote VP 500 with a DEPCM-BA REV C01. Fresh from the factory
everything worked as expected. The hard drive died and after having it
replaced and rebuilding Windows 95 I am unable to get the DECPM to be
recognized. When I insert the card, there is no beep to signify that it
is recognized, but if I look at the PC Card properties display it shows
"PCI bus - Socket 1". The first time I inserted the card I expected to
be prompted for the driver disk etc.

I have a Hayes PCMCIA modem that behaved as expected and works
normally. It is recognized when inserted etc.

Any idea what "PCI bus" means?

    Thanks,
    mark

If this is the same problem that I had you need to replace the driver .. take a look
in the DEC Etherworks notes file.

I also had a problem with the sound card on my system... I had to get a driver
for that as well...

2302.2don't think soALFAXP::M_HYDEFrom the laboratory of Dr. JekyllFri Feb 14 1997 18:0515
I don't think it's the same thing. I have the most recent PCMCIA
drivers from the web site. And I haven't even reached the point of
loading the DEPCM drivers yet. When I put the DEPCM card in the slot
the system does not recognize it and beep at me the way it does when I
insert the modem card. But if I look at the PC Card properties it
shows, as I said before, "PCI bus - Socket 1".

If I switch slots it does the same thing - the modem works but the
    DEPCM does not.

    Could the card be hosed?

    Thanks,

Ok, can anyone recommend another source of information about this
problem? I'm trying to locate another DEPCM card to try.

    Thanks,
