2298.0. "Ultra II - FATAL - ROM CHECKSUM INCORRECT" by SNLV01::LEE () Wed Feb 05 1997 22:03

    Has anyone seen this message when booting an Ultra II with the Mobile
    Media attached? Apart from switching it off and then on again, are
    there any fixes for it? BIOS is 2.10 This symtom is quite
    intermittent but I've seen it on a number of Ultra IIs. Booting with a
    Mobile Media doesn't get this message.

    Thanks,
    Bernard

    I meant to say, if booting WITHOUT the Mobile Media attached, one doesn't
    get this message.

    Bernard, please report this problem through the normal channel. We
    have heard of this problem from Europe, and we need a thorough report
    in order to pursue this one to resolution.

2298.3Same problem! Any solution yet?NETRIX::"pretorius@mail.dec.com"Nico PretoriusTue Feb 18 1997 05:5418
Any news on this problem?

I have also seen this problem on a number of Ultra II's and pressing
the reset switch usually gets me out of it, but at the moment I have a
LTS5150 on BIOS 2.10 (FR-P8FWG-AE) with a 6 X Mobile Media Unit
(Rev B05) with a 3COM 3C562B/3C563B (REV: A) combo card.  If I do a
Shutdown in Win95 (FIS installed) and I switch it on again the ROM
checksum error is there every time when I leave all the above named
PCMCIA devices in their slots during this procedure. If however I do a
Shutdown and Restart in Win95 or if I remove the 3COM PCMCIA card
before I power it on the problem doesn't occur.
