2293.0. "VP120 infra red" by WOTVAX::WILLIAMSAR () Fri Jan 31 1997 15:07

    Why does my customer have to disable COM1 in the BIOS to use the Infa
    red port. Otherwise it interferes with the modem on com port 2.

    The modem should be able to take COM3 and IRQ4 or 9 or 11. The IR port
    uses COM2 in BIOS and COM4 in software through COM2 port (depends on
    software but that is the way they usually work).

    Disabling COM1 is only necessary if your PCMCIA modem card can not
    adjust to different COM and IRQ settings. Most modem cards and drivers
    should adjust (in Win95) to COM3 and IRQ9,10 or 11, and work just fine.
