Doom 1.2 runs under Daytona (Windows NT 3.5) but not under Windows NT
    3.1.

You can also wait for WinDOOM, which is due in about "2 weeks..." :-)

actually, ive run doom under intel NT 3.1 and 3.5. It runs very slow
under NT 3.1. It just runs slow under Daytona.

Okay anyone want to help here.

Oh lord, they've just plonked a DECpc Alpha 150 running NT within arms
    reach of me.

Will Doom run on this, without fuss?

absolutely not. doom requires a 386, nt for alpha will not emulate the
386 instruction set. it WOULD run under NT on intel of course.

Someone oughtta stick a burr under the Alpha_Migration_Tools_Group's arse and
get them to ship their Win16->NT_Alpha run-time binary translator, and let the
demon blood fly!

NT also doesn't work with DOS audio drivers either... so even if it
did run, it would be pretty dull. But while we're on the subject,
I thought this was pretty good (from InfoWorld, Dec26/Jan2 issue,
Nicholas Petreley's "Down to the Wire" predictions column): ;-)

"1995: Digital Equipment Corporation joins with Steve Jobs and
ports NextStep to the Alpha chip to try to generate some interest
    in the Alpha PC"

"1996: Digital joins with IBM and ports OS/2 to the Alpha
chip to try and generate some interest in the Alpha PC"

"1997: Digital joins with Novell and ports NetWare to the
Alpha chip to try and generate some interest in the Alpha PC"

"1998: Digital joins with id Software and ports the latest version
of Doom to the Alpha chip to try and generate some interest
    in the Alpha PC"

"1999: Digital sells 6,000,000 Alpha PCs"

yep, thats also true. NT does not allow applications to directly
access hardware, so no DOS apps will have sound when running under NT.
But .VxD's could be written to hook DOS calls, so
it is possible down the road if soundcard vendors decide its worth
    it...
