4060.0. "< PORT PRINT TO DECLASER >" by ICS::LEGER_A () Fri Apr 08 1994 02:48

    THIS NOTE HAS BEEN CROSS POSTED TO WPSPLUS NOTESFILE:

    We are currently running V3.0-1 of ALL-IN-1 and have users who are try
    to use DEClasers (such as LN05R, LN06R, etc.) as ported printers.

    Questions:

    (1) Can ALL-IN-1 users port print to these kinds of devices?

    (2) Is there any update, fix, etc. out there that would allows us to
        update our printer selections for ported printers?

Yes. Print to PORT, tab to Print style field and set this to:

	DECLASER	for an ANSI DEClaser printer
	PS for a PostScript DEClaser printer

There is no update or fix because all you need to do is use ALL-IN-1 System
Management to add new Site Printers entries, for example:

  Printer Name:              PORT DECLASER

  Description: Attached Printer Port - DECLASER printer

  Format Printer Type:       DECLASER
  Destination Printer Type:  PORT

  Printer Name:              PORT PS

  Description: Attached Printer Port - PS printer

  Format Printer Type:       PS
  Destination Printer Type:  PORT

4060.3< PORT DECLASER NOT WORKING >ICS::LEGER_ASat Apr 09 1994 03:1512
    Richard,

    I've enter the PORT DECLASER and PORT PS to the site printer list
    and then had the user try it out. It says that it formats the
    documents, and also says it has printed all the doucments but nothing
    comes out of the printer.

    Set it up as in your note (.2) - should I have done something more?

    Thanks in advance,
    Alice

If the messages:

	Printing Document . . .
	Printed Document

are displayed then ALL-IN-1 thinks it has printed the document, and that it
executed a COPY_TO_PORT function without any errors being detected.

All I can suggest now is that you check the terminal and printer set-ups.

Hi Alice,

So you're using a terminal emulator, which one ?

In the setup of your emulator you should enable the printerport.

4060.8<PRINT DRIVERS NEEDS ON PC>ICS::LEGER_AWed May 25 1994 21:499
    Just wanted to let everyone that we did find the problem. It happens
    that the print drivers were not loaded when the PC was installed - we
    reload the drivers onto the pc and the user was able to use PORT as the
    destination with PS as the print style and has been fine.

    Thanks for all the help,
    Alice
