3877.0. "Printing folder list default margins" by TAV02::CHAIM (Semper ubi Sub ubi .....) Mon Feb 14 1994 11:33

ALL-IN-1 V2.4 (WPS V3.1)

A customer has described the following problem:

From FC he does LF (List Folders). He selects ALL and then XP to print the
list. He gets the first page printed over 2 pages. If he changes the top/botom
margins to 6/3 (the default is always 6/6) then it prints fine.

He would like to be able to change the default to 6/3, but he has not been able
to identify from where this default is being taken. It is apparently NOT being
taken from WPSDEF.WPL

I have a feeling that this is hard coded somewhere.

I have noticed that using WPS V4.0, this functionality has changed and doesn't
format the list as a WPL document.

Thanks,

Cb.

If you look at the named data on the FCFL$INDEX menu you will see that the
listing file is being created as an ASCII file. This means that it will be
formatted using the 'ASCII EDT' FORMAT master entry information.

Since the WPS-PLUS Formatter Print Settings can be displayed the customer
must have modified the 'ASCII EDT' FORMAT master entry to specify that
ASCII documents are formatted using the WPS-PLUS formatter. When the
WPS-PLUS Formatter formats an ASCII document it uses hard-coded default
settings, which include the top and bottom margins being 6 lines.

    Hi,

It was deleted from the V3.0 kit because it was no longer used in the
product. It was used by option LF which changed in V3.0 to be identical
to the new-to-V3.0 IF (index of folders) option.
