3234.0. "VI Editor on the ALL-IN-1" by DEKVC::DAEHEEKIM () Mon Sep 06 1993 13:24

    As I know,we can use 3 EDITORS (WPSPLUS,EDT,TPU) on ALL-IN-1.
    On OPENVMS , we can use VI editor on the $ prompt.
    So if I use this editor on the ALL-IN-1 environment,
    How can I do that?

    DaeHee,

    Editors used 'properly' in the ALL-IN-1 environment must be integrated
    with ALL-IN-1 to support text datasets. Therefore you would have to
    have access to the vi API if there is one and write some integration
    code to hook it into ALL-IN-1.

    Personally I have never heard of native vi on OpenVMS. It may be that
    someone has ported vi to OpenVMS using the TPU editor language. If
    this is the case then it may be possible to modify it to use the TPU
    integration in ALL-IN-1 'fairly' easily.

3234.2Create FORMAT entryIOSG::NEWLANDRichard Newland, IOSG, REO2-G/L2Tue Sep 07 1993 13:1012
It is possible to integrate an editor by creating a FORMAT master entry
which defines how to run the editor from ALL-IN-1, which could be by
running it in the sub-process.

A user would use that editor by doing a normal Create and setting the
Handling to the Format master entry.

If you need more help on how to do this let me know.
