2712.0. "Can't get DX file into file cab - Keypak being used" by SCAMIN::BROWN (Jackie Brown - Tampa, FL) Thu May 13 1993 20:26

Hi,

I have a customer who is evaluating Keyword for DOS to convert Word Perfect
files to DX and then load them into ALL-IN-1. The conversion appears to work
OK according to the customer. They use Pathworks NFT to copy the file up to
the VAX, but cannot get Document Transfer (either RV or RVC) to work.

The errors I receive when I do RV or RVC are:

OA-E-NOCOPY, Problem with COPY function - file DSK20:[brown.a1]wpsample.dx
OA-E-IOGET, error reading file "!AS" (my personal favorite)
OA-I-LASLINE, VMS file could not be accessed, document was not created

I checked protection, etc. and all is fine. I have 2 questions:

1. due to the errors above, could this not be a true DX document?
2. is anyone out there using Keyword on a PC in the above scenerio and having
any luck?

help is always appreciated,

-jackie brown

There was a similar, or perhaps the same, problem discussed recently in
either this conference or the WPS-PLUS conference.

The problem was because the RMS record attributes for the .DX file were
'Stream-LF' and not 'Carriage return carriage control'. Do a
$DIRECTORY/FULL of the .DX file and check what the record attributes.

Use COPY instead of NFT and I think this will work. NFT copies
change record format (for better or worse).
