2313.0. "OA$FORMATTER failure message 011FA61A" by NWGEDU::MACKNEY () Tue Feb 23 1993 21:22

    I am running ALL-IN-1 version V3.0 with VMS V5.5-1

    I am getting an error when trying to print a document:

    Background formatter job file_name (entry 123) terminated
    with error status

    The entry on the queue is:

Server queue OA$FORMATTER, idle, on ZUSJE::, mounted form DEFAULT
  /BASE_PRIORITY=4 /DEFAULT=(FEED,FORM=DEFAULT) /OWNER=[SYSTEM]
    /PROCESSOR=OA$FORMATTER /PROTECTION=(S:E,O:D,G:R,W:W) /RETAIN=ERROR

    I have not found this error message listed in other notes in this
    conference. Is it something to do with the bug in note 134?

What is the job status if you use ALL-IN-1 Job Services or Manage Jobs and
Queues to examine the job information? This will translate the status
value 011FA61A into a message.

Does this problem occur for all print operations, or only for a particular
document?

I can see from the parameter information (OA$FMTCTL=2) that WPS-PLUS
formatting was requested. What happens if you print an ASCII document
which will be formatted with the ASCII formatter?

2313.2WPSDEF.WPL to blame for OA$FORMATTER errorNWGEDU::MACKNEYWed Feb 24 1993 12:4819
    Thank Richard for your swify reply.

    I have located the problem. I will post it here in case others see the
    same.

    I had a corrupt WPSDEF.WPL file in my .ALLIN1 directory. Printing a
    document created using EDT worked O.K. but WPSPLUS did not. Furthermore
    using the WPS-PLUS Formatter Print Settings Menu to print in forground
    produced the error: 'Left and right delimeters can not be equal'.
    (This must be why the OA$FORMATTER would not process the print job).

    I replaced WPSDEF.WPL with one from the directory [ALLIN1.LIB_SHARE.USER]
    which is the one copied to new user accounts when they are created.

    Subsequently tying to print existing documents gave the same error, but
    a newly created document worked O.K. proving that the WPSDEF.WPL file
    must be to blame.

    When you have a problem, log a call at your CSC OR enter a note.
    Don't do both.

    Now at least 4 people have been looking at the problem.

    You, me, Ricard and Fokke (who received the call in the CSC).

    And when you find the solution, please tell the CSC so we
    can close the call.

    Regards,
