1759.0. "Problem reading and printing documents" by BLG03::CAVALLI () Thu Nov 12 1992 11:29

    Hi,

I put the same question on SCRIBE::WPS-PLUS conference.

A customer of mine have ALL-IN-1 LLV Italian 3.0 on a node A, and have
    ALL-IN-1 2.3 on a remote node B.

A user moved from node B to node A. The ALL-IN-1 system manager of node
A made a VMS backup of the user directories from node B to node A,
rename the ALL-IN-1 directory to WPS directory, create the user with
ALL-IN-1 3.0 on node A, run ALL-IN-1 from the new user login on node A
and introduce the command <DO WPCOPY to convert the old file in the new
cabinet. The procedure run without error.

Now when the user read some document on the terminal appear the
WPL_MRKRTOP a line and the BOTTOMMARK (in Italian language we have)

    -------------------- INIZIO -----------------------

    --------------------- FINE ------------------------

when the user print the same document a blank page is printed.

    With the command

    <GET OA$FUNCTION="LIST " OA$CURDOC_FILENAME

the user can see the document on the terminal.

There is not problem to modify the document.

I haven't see differences between documents working well and document
not working well in DOCDB definition and into VMS definition
    (=DIR/FULL).

    Have You any idea?

    Thanks for any help.

    Regards,
    Chiara

What is the Data type and Handling of the problem documents?

If the Data type is WPSPLUS, and the Handling is either WPSPLUS or blank
then they will be a difference between doing a LIST and either a Read or
Print. A LIST will read the .WPL file via the WPS-PLUS text dataset. A
Read or Print will use the WPS-PLUS formatter.

Therefore my guess is that there is something in the .WPL file which is
causing the WPS-PLUS formatter to fail or not process the document.
