732.0. "Apple Lasers/DQS/ALL-IN-1" by NEMAIL::BYRNE (The Red Menace) Thu May 21 1992 01:13

	Does anyone out there have a system with Apple Lasers on DQS
	(Distributed Queueing Service)? If yes, does ALL-IN-1 have
	any problems printing to them?

	I've read notes 423 and 435 in the ALL-IN-1_V24 Notes file
	on this subject, but I'm still not clear on a couple of
	things.

	Given that there are no problems putting Apple Lasers on
	DQS, what should I do about printing WPSPLUS documents to
	them?

	Should I set up an entry in the printer master to be PS
	and then require users to convert WPSPLUS documents to PS
	before printing to the Apple Laser, or should I set up an
	entry in the printer master in ALL-IN-1 to be LP11 so that
	I needn't worry about converting WPSPLUS documents?

	Has anyone out there done anything like this yet?

732.1What version of WPS-PLUS do you have?IOSG::NEWLANDRichard Newland, IOSG, REO1-D/4AThu May 21 1992 14:5736

The DQS queues will appear as normal VMS print queues and ALL-IN-1 can
sumbit files to these queues with any problems.

However, the key issue is the the format of these files the format which
the Apple Laser printer requires. This depends on what applications are
available to create files with the correct format.

What version of WPS-PLUS are you using? If you want to print to a
PostScript printer such as an Apple Laser you should use WPS-PLUS V4.
The WPS-PLUS V4 formatter supports PostScript printers. Previous versions
of WPS-PLUS did not.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'convert WPSPLUS documents to PS'. WPS-PLUS
documents are revisable documents which have to be formatted in order to be
printed.
