112.0. "General V3.0 questions (Part II)" by POBOX::LIDEN () Thu Feb 27 1992 02:04

Well todays questions are as follows:

    1. There is some addition to the directory structure during
installation of V3.0 which creates [.system_dictionaries]. Included
therein are two files, CORPORATE.LGP and GROUP.LGP.

Can you tell me what these are and how they differ from the original
    dictionaries already there in V2.4?

    2. When you run V3.0 co-existently with V2.4, how does the WPS+
    versions interact with each other?

Secondly, what if you've got Shared File Cabinet Package running on the
V2.4 system? How will the V3.0 interact with that (SFCP)?

    3. When a user is given access to someone's drawer, and then later on is
deleted or moved over the net, or renamed, is the only action performed
to clean up, to place the username within brackets?

    4. When you run the utility, which allows for the reading of the server
transaction log file, the output is placed to SYS$OUTPUT, that's OK, my
question is where could someone find some verbage as to the meaning of
the fields? Session ID, OAFC Function, Trace Event, String1, String2
and whatever else could be placed there?

    5. What are LCI.LEXICONS files for and how do they relate to File
    Cabinet Server and Group Conferencing?

    Some answers.

    1. No idea.

    2. ALL-IN-1 V3.0 and V2.4 do not do anything with each other when they
are run in co-existant mode. It's as if they were separate products
(which they are). No data is interchanged between the two.

SFCP is migrated to the new shared drawer structure after a system
upgrades to V3.0. The SFC_MIGRATE script does this for you.

    3. Users gain access to a shared drawer through VMS identifiers. Their
identifier is placed on the ACCESS.DAT in the directory where the
drawer is located. When a user is deleted the identifier will remain
on ACCESS.DAT until the next time the access list is edited, at
which time ALL-IN-1 (via the ACL$ data set) will eliminate the
obsolete identifier. To give access to a user when they have moved
to another network location you have to grant access to a proxy
account. This uses a separate identifier. Place the username for
the proxy account within round brackets when entering the names of
users to share the drawer. ALL-IN-1 then knows that you want to use
a VMS, rather than an ALL-IN-1, account.

    4. I believe the fields in the server trace log are detailed in the
       ALL-IN-1 File Cabinet Server guide.

    5. I don't know how the LCI.LEXICONS files relate to the FCS. They have
       no connection with GPC.

Hopefully someone else with a little more knowledge can comment on the
    missing pieces.

These files are the Corporate and Group Dictionaries. These files will
only exist on a V2.4 system if the WPS-PLUS V4.0 Update Option has been
    installed.

These files are used by the Linguistics routines - Spell Checker, Usage
    Alert and Lexicon.
