2149.0. "Why do tmp files remain in OAUSER ?" by KERNEL::SALMONJ (Jason Salmon) Mon Jan 25 1993 15:13

Hello,
I have a customer who has a couple of queries.

He is running ALL-IN-1 v3.0 (co-existent with ALL-IN-1 v2.4), VMS v5.5-1,
Message Router v3.2.

He Types CM R for any DO element.
He Selects option EI or ET and a .WPL file is created in OAUSER.
The WPL files are called CM_INFO_TMP.WPL and CM_OUT_DO_TMP.WPL respectively.
When the user finishes reading the information, the file is not deleted from
OAUSER whether the user reads it all or does an EXIT SCREEN.

If a user is using CM heavily, these files build up very rapidly.
He is concerned about the buildup of these files.
He feels that CM R should create these files in OA$TEMP
or CM R should delete the files when they have been read.

He is also concerned about other files in his OAUSER area including
CM_GET_FIELD_VIEW.WPL, CM_GET_NAMED.WPL.

Is there any particular reason why these files are retained as they are ?

Any help will be appreciated

Jason.

The temporary files exist in OAUSER because:

a) We forgot to delete them.
b) The OA$TEMP directory only became available half-way through V3.0
development.
c) We missed this point (of creation in OAUSER:) when we went through all the
CM code to change references from OAUSER: to OA$TEMP:

So I'm sorry... but not too sorry ;-)

Tell your customer to fill in an SPR to make sure that the bug gets placed on
the list to be fixed sometime we get a chance...
