1696.0. "VAXsight UIS image to DDIF?" by BISTRO::ROWLANDS (Welsh outpost on the riviera) Wed Nov 08 1989 13:40

I've checked title=UIS,RENDER.VWS but there dosen't appear to be a
note describing the following (I've probably missed it...)

How do I convert my VAXsight UIS image to a DDIF image so that I
can attempt to use Paint with it?

There are discussions of this topic in the QUEEN::DECWRITE conference,
the VWSENG::SIGHT conference, and the VWSENG::VWS_DW_MIGRATION
    conference.

VWS/SIGHT is an object-oriented editor. There are converters which
will enable you to convert your UIS files to DDIF files which retain
the object properties. However, there have been some problems with
editing the resulting DDIF files in DECwrite (currently the only
    DDIF-based object-oriented graphics editor).

You can also convert the SIGHT pictures to bitmaps, suitable for use
with Paint. However, in doing this, you loose all the "object-ness" of
the picture ... it's simply a bunch of bits. Note also that DECpaint
only support monochrome (ie, black and white) images at the moment,
although color support is in the works.

See these other conferences for discussions of this.
