2062.0. "XIO: unable to open connection NODE::0" by ARTY::gauthier (AUA - Another Useful Acronym) Wed Jan 17 1990 19:18

I just recently upgraded my VMS machine to V5.3 and my
workstation to "Ultrix T4.0-0 (Rev. 93) Worksystem T2.4-0".

I am not able to run an application on the VMS machine and
display it on the Ultrix machine. An application running
on a VMS V5.1-1 system displays fine though.

There error I am getting is:

XIO: unable to open connection ARTY::0
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
%XLIB-F-IOERROR, xlib io error
-SYSTEM-F-LINKABORT, network partner aborted logical link

	Any ideas?

How about from a different ULTRIX system?

The machine I am trying to display on is RISC. I have no problem
display applications which are running on other ULTRIX (UWS 2.1)
systems (RISC or VAX). Unfortunately I don't have any other systems
running ULTRIX T4.0, so I can't try to repeat the problem.

When I get in tomorrow, I'll try running on VMS 5.3 and displaying on
    UWS 2.1.

    Thanks.

Although I don't know what you're problem is, I can say that it's not
something inherent in the OS versions you are running. I've got
applications running on VMS 5.3 and am displaying them on my T4.0
    (RISC) workstation with no problems.

Well, just for the heck of it I checked the security on the
session manager. Well, after swearing at myself, and fixing
it so I had privilege to display from the remote 5.3 system,
	it worked.

Is this the new "not authorized" message?
