2165.0. "Dual screen format set-up." by TRUCKS::SYKES () Tue Jan 30 1990 09:21

    Note 2048 announces the new VS3100 SPX with the 1280 x 1024 66 Hz
    format. It also says that the SPX will support the existing
    1024 x 864 60 Hz format.

    Could someone say how this is done. Is it a hardware configuration
    that is factory set or can the user set up the system for use with
    the VR299 or new Sony VRT19 monitor.

It is a switch setting on the SPX module. You select either density (actually
the oscillator) and the system will load the proper timing values for
a monitor of the corresponding density.

    Does this meen we have to open the system box to change setting ?

Probably. But, considering that this should only be changed if you switch to
a different TYPE OF monitor, that should not be a big deal.

    But it does bring up the question: Is it (officially) customer
    serviceable OR do you need to call in FS?

PVAX0 and PVAX1 are F.S. serviced

The SPX module is customer installable on the model 38 and 48.

To get at the switch you must remove the system cover, but you need not remove
the disk plate on most systems. The switch peeks thru a hole on the left side
of the disk drive plate.
