2782.0. "VTXSRV on another node" by VAXRIO::63079::valeria () Tue Apr 08 1997 17:19

	Hi

	I need to know if it is possible to use VTX on an Alpha node accessing
the VTX server on a VAX node. If I only install VTX subscriber environment and
Old VTXPAD subscriber (to use VTX/CLASSIC) on Alpha with no license and
create a logical name to point to VTX server on VAX will work correctly ???

	Thanks in advance,
	Valeria.

    You have the right to copy vms clients to any vms systems.
    They will connect to any vms server (vax or alpha) - HOWEVER...
    the farther back you go with clients, the less features they have...
    and some servers will crash sending to older clients.

    Take the CURRENT (vms) client kit - to any vms system, and you can
    connect to current vtx servers - anywhere without known problems.

    As you already see, licenses are not required for the vms clients!

    P.S. Connecting by the logical name is the last thing it uses.
    You may want to set up .ini files. It works, but there are wierd
    things you can do to logicals.

2782.2And you don't need to copy everything!WELKIN::ADOERFERHi-yo Server, away!Wed Apr 09 1997 19:452
    If you answer the questions correctly, I believe you still only need
    vtx saveset .A and .B for a client only install.
